Stems procumbent or trailing, hairy. Leaf blades narrowly oblong, oblong-elliptic, or oblong-lanceolate, 20–35 × 3–10 mm, surfaces hairy. Inflorescences usually 2- or 3-flowered, flowers rarely solitary. Flowers: sepals ovate-lanceolate, 5–8 × 3–5 mm, abaxial surface glabrous, margins ciliate; corolla lavender, maroon, pink, purple, or red, 10–15 mm; stamens: filaments glabrous or glabrate.
Phenology: Flowering Jun–Aug.
Habitat: Coastal dunes, sandy barrens.
Elevation: 0–50 m.
