Plants to 1 dm. Leaves: stipules subequal to petioles; petiole 2–6 mm; blade 0.5–1.5 cm, ± as wide as long, softly stellate-hairy. Flowers subsessile; calyx 5–7 mm, lobes stellate-hairy; petals subequal to calyx, claw hairy, glabrous otherwise; staminal column hairy, anthers 20; style pallid. Schizocarps included in calyces, 4.5 mm diam. 2n = 16.
Phenology: Flowering year-round.
Habitat: Heavy saline soil in exposed sites
Elevation: 0–200 m
Distribution
Tex., Mexico (Nuevo León, Tamaulipas).
Discussion
In the flora area, Billieturnera helleri is found in scattered locations from Lampasas County south to Cameron County, but most frequently in the Rio Grande valley.
