|discussion=<p>Tonestus eximius is known only from the upper elevations of the Sierra Nevada in the vicinity of Lake Tahoe in Alpine and El Dorado counties, California, and Washoe County, Nevada. It is similar to Lorandersonia peirsonii, although smaller in most respects.</p>
