Plants 5–17(–22) cm. Leaves: basal spatulate, bases narrowly tapering to winged petioles, margins distinctly crenate distally; cauline 2–7, 10–25 × 1–4 mm. Heads in open wandlike arrays (to mid stem). Phyllaries: shortest 1.4–2 mm. Disc florets: corollas 3.9–4.2 mm. 2n = 18.


Phenology: Flowering early Aug.
Habitat: Alpine serpentine barrens, crevices and ravines
Elevation: 700–1000 m

Of conservation concern.

Variety chlorolepis is known only from Mt. Albert, Gaspé.
