Peduncles usually 1–3.5 cm. Racemes 2–11 cm, equal to or longer than foliage. Pedicels strigose. Flowers 7–12 mm, relatively large; calyx tube stri­gose. 2n = 48.


Phenology: Flowering spring–early sum­mer.
Habitat: Open, sandy areas.
Elevation: 800–2100 m.

Discussion

In Arizona, var. pusillus is known across the northern part of the state where it may be locally common.
