Shrubs, 5–50 dm, usually with distinct trunk, green to silvery. Leaves silver-silky; pet­iole 2–5 cm. Inflorescence bracts 4–8 mm. Racemes 8–30 cm. Flowers 10–14 mm.


Phenology: Flowering Mar–Jun.
Habitat: Chaparral, foothill woodlands.
Elevation: 0–1500 m.

Discussion

Variety albifrons is known from much of coastal California, the Sierra Nevada Foothills, and southern Oregon (cismontane).
