Stems erect to sprawling, 2–4 dm. Leaves 2–5 cm; tendrils reduced to bristles, usually less than 1 cm; leaflets (2 or)4 or 6, blades ovate-lanceolate or lin­ear. Inflorescences 2–4-flowered. Flowers 18–22 mm; corolla white.


Phenology: Flowering Apr–Jun.
Habitat: Open, coniferous forests.
Elevation: 100–1800 m.

Discussion

Variety cusickii includes two distinct races: one with ovate to lanceolate leaflets and the other with linear leaflets. Plants from an intermediate population have been collected in Umatilla County, Oregon.
