Annuals 5–35 cm. Stems erect to ascending or decumbent. Leaf blades lanceolate-oblong to oblong, 1–4 cm, margins crenate. Inflorescences sparsely and obscurely glandular or shaggy-hairy or densely glandular; whorls (1 or)2–7 on main axis, sometimes fewer on branches; nodes (2 or)3–6-flowered; flowers crowded; distalmost bracts linear, 3–5(+) mm. Pedicels ascending to spreading, shorter than calyx, not or scarcely visible. Flowers: calyx lobes oblong to ovate, equal to capsule, ape× rounded; corolla whitish to pinkish, banner lobes and wings rarely purple-tipped and/or with purple spots at base, 8–20 mm, glabrous or glandular; banner length 0.5–0.9+ times wings, lobe base without folds, tube longer than diam., hairy inside; banner lobes ± oblong, toothed, backs often touching or parallel, wings ± oblong to obovate, entire or notched; stamens: abaxial filaments glabrous or hairy, adaxials hairy, basal spur 0(or 1). Seeds 8–16, oblong to ovate, sometimes prismatic or hourglass-shaped, 0.8–1.5 mm, margins thickened, inrolled.
