Plants dwarf, acaulescent or subacaulescent, herbage densely pannose. Stems obsolete. Leaves 1.5–7 cm; leaflets (5 or)7 or 9(or 11), blades obovate, obovate-cuneate, or broadly oval, 3–12(–15) mm, apex obtuse or truncate. Racemes (2 or)3–8-flowered. Flowers (11.4–)12–15 mm wide; calyx deeply campanulate to broadly cylindric, 9–13(–14) mm, tube 7.8–10.8 mm, lobes 1.8–3(–4) mm; corolla pink-purple, rhombic- or flabellate-obovate; banner (19–)20–24 mm; keel 15.6–17.6 mm. Legumes obliquely ovoid or broadly lanceoloid-ellipsoid, not or very shallowly sulcate ventrally, 13–23(–27) × 5–9.5(–13) mm, densely shaggy-villous, hairs to (2–)2.5–4(–5) mm. Seeds 28–38.


Phenology: Flowering May–Jul.
Habitat: Gravelly hillsides, clay bluffs, valley flats, with sagebrush, on limestone substrates.
Elevation: 1300–2200(–2800) m.

Discussion

Variety concinnus is restricted to east-central Idaho and southwestern Montana.
