Annuals. Stems twining. Leaf blades cordate, 20–60 × 14–38 mm, base cordate, surfaces glabrous. Peduncles glabrous. Flowers: sepals triangular, 6 × 3–4 mm, chartaceous to coria­ceous, apex acute; corolla blue (drying pink or purple), fun­nelform, 26–27 mm, limb 30–35 mm diam.


Phenology: Flowering Aug–Oct.
Habitat: Desert scrub.
Elevation: 700–1700 m.

Distribution

Ariz., N.Mex., Tex., Mexico.

Discussion

The name Ipomoea aristolochiifolia G. Don has been misapplied to plants of I. cardiophylla.
