Annuals. Stems ascending to erect, 1–3 dm, puberulent to pubescent. Leaf blades oblong to oblanceolate, 15–40 × 2–8(–15) mm, surfaces sparsely vil­lous to glabrate. Inflorescences: flowers solitary; bracts spatulate to subulate, 4–5 mm proximal to calyx, 3–8 mm. Flowers: sepals oblong-ovate, 3–4 mm, mar­gins scarious, surfaces hairy; corolla white, tinged or striped with blue or pink, campanulate, 4–6 mm, limb 5-lobed 1/3–1/2 length. Seeds papillulate.

Phenology: Flowering Mar–Jun.
Habitat: Grassy and rocky places, friable wet clay soils, serpentine ridges.
Elevation: 0–800 m.
