Plants acaulescent. Racemes 3–6-flowered. Legumes ± straight, 6–11 mm.


Phenology: Flowering Apr–Jun.
Habitat: Pinyon-juniper and mixed desert shrub communities.
Elevation: 1400–2200 m.

Discussion

Variety petrophilus is distin­guished by its short stature and small fruit, and occurs along the eastern margin of the San Rafael Swell in Emery and Wayne counties.
