Stems proximally woody, to 5+ m. Leaves: petiole 40–60 mm; blade: base cordate, apex acute to acuminate, surfaces usually glabrous, rarely hairy. Bracts scalelike, deciduous. Sepals 7–12 mm, outer 2 shorter than inner 3, margins scarious. Fruits 10–15 mm. Seeds puberulent.
Phenology: Flowering Dec–May.
Habitat: Thickets, along waterways.
Elevation: 0–10 m.
Distribution
Introduced; Fla., Mexico, West Indies, Central America, South America.
Discussion
Reports of Turbina corymbosa from Louisiana and Texas have not been verified.
The name Ipomoea corymbosa (Linnaeus) Roth has been misapplied to plants of Turbina corymbosa. Ipomoea sidifolia (Kunth) Sweet, an illegitimate name, pertains here.
