Flowers 2.9–4.5 mm; sepals sparsely ciliate in proximal 1/2; keel beak linear to oblong, 0.3–0.7 mm, length usually greater than 1.5 times width; staminal column pubescent adaxially. Seeds 2.8–3.2 mm, body (excluding aril and pubescence) (1.4–)1.7–1.9 mm. 2n = 18.
Phenology: Flowering early–mid summer.
Habitat: Crevices of limestone cliffs.
Elevation: 1500–1700 m.
Discussion
Variety mescalerorum is known only from the type locality in the San Andres Mountains in Doña Ana County.
