Leaf blade dull green, to 3 mm wide. Spathe 1.9–3.8 cm. Flowers erect; perianth cadmium yellow, funnelform, (1.9–)2.2–4(–6) cm; perianth tube green, (0.2–)0.5–0.9(–1) cm, increasing in diam., less than 1/4 perianth length, ca. 1/2 (1/5–2/3) filament length, ca. 1/6 (1/8–1/4) spathe length; tepals rarely reflexed; stamens diverging, appearing equal; filaments filiform, (0.5–)0.7–1.1(–1.5) cm; anthers 3–7 mm; style longer than perianth tube; stigma capitate, usually among anthers; pedicel (0.3–)1.4–3.3(–4.4) cm, sometimes longer than spathe. 2n = 48.


Phenology: Flowering late spring–late fall (May–Dec).
Habitat: Primarily low, sandy-loam open fields, swales, ditches, coastal plains
Elevation: 0–400 m
