Stems to 30 cm, ± sericeous, usually leafless at anthesis. Leaves sessile; blade ovate, scalelike, 1–4 × 1 mm, surfaces glabrous. Inflorescences: brac­teoles elliptic to ovate, 2–3 × 1–1.5 mm. Flowers: sepals: outer elliptic, 4–6 × 2–2.5 mm, inner ovate, 3.5–4 × 2.5–3 mm; corolla 5–7 mm, tube 3–4 mm. Capsules 4–5 mm. Seeds 3 mm.


Phenology: Flowering Apr–Jun(–Sep).
Habitat: Alkaline and/or saline sites.
Elevation: 0–20(–70) m.

Distribution

Tex., Mexico (Tamaulipas), South America (Argentina).
