Herbs 0.3 m. Stems subterranean. Leaves: (erect); petiole 0.3–1.3 cm; blade broadly lanceolate to ovate, 5–30 × 1–8 cm, base cuneate, apex rounded. Flowering pedicels 4–17 cm. Flowers: calyx 0.6–1.2 × 0.7–1 cm; corolla fragrant, 5.5–11.5 × 6–11 cm, lobes often glandular-hairy abaxially; stamens 2.5–3 mm; filaments nearly completely adnate to corolla; anthers introrse; ovary 4–5 × 3–4 mm; style 4.5–8 cm; stigma 3–5 × 3–5 mm. Fruiting pedicels 6–19 cm. Fruiting calyces 1.2–1.9 × 1.6–2.3 cm. Berries greenish yellow, 1.5–2.7 × 2–3 cm. Seeds dark brown, 3–3.5 × 2.8–3.2 mm, testa alveolate. 2n = 24.
Phenology: Flowering Apr–Sep.
Habitat: Waste places.
Elevation: 0–100 m.
Distribution
Ala., La., South America (Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay).
Discussion
Jaborosa integrifolia was first reported for North America as a ballast plant in Mobile County, Alabama (C. T. Mohr 1901), and later in Louisiana as a weed in wet areas of Plaquemines Parish (R. D. Thomas and C. M. Allen 1993–1998).
