Leaflets: blade ovate, margins irregularly toothed or lobed. Flowers cup- or bell-shaped; sepals lanceolate-ovate, 8–10 mm; petals yellow (veins yellow), obovate-cuneate, 12–18 mm (apex deeply emarginate); filaments 4 mm; anthers yellow, oval, 1.5 mm. Tubercles absent or not (without surface globules, appearing slick), brown, lamellar, planar, or conical. 2n = 10.
Phenology: Flowering Apr–Jun.
Habitat: Wet meadows of coastal prairies
Elevation: 0-100 m
Discussion
Of conservation concern.
Subspecies sulphurea is easily recognized by its entirely yellow petals. It is known only from Point Reyes, Marin County, and the Butano Creek area, San Mateo County (R. Ornduff 1971).
