Bulb scales: large 8–12; small 60–200 or more. Stem 4–10 dm. Leaves in 1–2 whorls of 4–8 leaves per node proximally, alternate distally, 4–11 cm; blade lanceolate. Flowers nodding; tepals pinkish to purplish, oblong-lanceolate, 1.2–2 cm; nectaries green with reddish margins, lanceolate, 1/3 tepal length; style unbranched. Capsules winged. 2n = 24.

Habitat: Granitic soils, open forests
Elevation: 1500–2100 m

Discussion

Of conservation concern.

This species is rare and under pressure from cattle grazing.
