Thyrses continuous or interrupted. Flowers: corolla 20–26 mm, limb blue to violet or purple; pollen sacs (1.2–)1.4–1.9 mm.
Phenology: Flowering Jun–Jul.
Habitat: Rocky sagebrush-grasslands, sagebrush and mixed shrubland communities, pine and aspen-pine woodlands.
Elevation: 2100–2700 m.
Discussion
Variety patricus is known from the Kern Mountains in White Pine County, Nevada, and the Deep Creek and House ranges in Juab, Millard, and Tooele counties, Utah. Flower features tend to be slightly larger in var. patricus than in var. leonardii and var. higginsii.
