Leaves: petiole 10–50(–100) mm, tomentose; blade: base cordate, margins entire, apex acuminate, acute, or obtuse. Inflorescences 10–30 cm. Pedicels 2–4 mm, tomentose. Flowers: corolla lobes abaxially puberulent, adaxially glabrous; anthers ellipsoid, 0.5–0.6 mm; ovary globose. Utricles 5–6(–7) × 4–5 mm. Seeds dark brown, 4–6 × 3–5 mm. 2n = 26.


Phenology: Flowering late fall–winter; fruiting early spring.
Habitat: Disturbed sites.
Elevation: 0–10 m.

Distribution

Introduced; Fla., Asia (Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan), introduced also in Mexico, West Indies, Pacific Islands (Hawaii).
