Leaves: basal 12–45 × 10–25 cm, blades 0, 3, or 5-lobed; proximal and mid cauline blades similar (distal usually 3-lobed or not lobed); adaxial faces sparsely to moderately hairy. Receptacles hemispheric to globose; paleae 4–5.5 mm. Ray laminae 20–45 × 5–11 mm. Discs 10–20 × 10–17 mm. Cypselae 3.5–5.2 mm; pappi to 0.7 mm. 2n = 38.
Phenology: Flowering late summer–fall.
Habitat: Wet sites along streams and edges of woods
Elevation: 70–1500 m
