Plants unbranched. Stems 2–4 × 1.5–4.5 cm. Spines all radial, (3–)4(–5) per areole, curved upward toward apex of plant, 3–8 × 1 mm.


Phenology: Flowering spring.
Habitat: Great Basin desert scrub, desert grasslands, gravelly soils
Elevation: 1500-1700 m
