Plants 20–60 cm. Leaves: petioles narrowly winged; blades narrowly obovate, elliptic, lanceolate, or spatulate, sometimes runcinate, 0.5–3.5 cm wide, margins entire or toothed to pinnately lobed (lobes or teeth remote, not prominently white-tipped), faces glabrous or hispidulous. Heads 1–12. Involucres 8–10 mm. Phyllaries lanceolate, strongly stipitate-glandular, apices acute. Cypselae dark brown, 3.5–7.5 mm, tapered, not beaked; pappi 4–6 mm. 2n = 22.


Phenology: Flowering Jun–Jul.
Habitat: Moist meadows, low wet areas, swales, bogs
Elevation: 400–2700 m
