Leaves: blade obovate or orbiculate, 2–6(–8) mm, base cuneate, margins incised-crenate to incised-dentate, teeth 1–3(or 4) pairs, apices obtuse or acute. Inflorescences capitate, beginning at node 4 or 5; proximal internode lengths 0.5–1(–1.5) times bracts; bracts green or with slight bronze tinge or suffused with purple adaxially especially near margins, broader than leaves, ovate to obovate, length not more than 2 times width, 3–7 mm, base cuneate, surfaces hirsute and hairs eglandular, teeth 2–4 pairs, as long as wide, apices obtuse or acute, sinuses between teeth rounded or acute. Flowers: calyx lobes falcate, apex obtuse; corolla brownish purple, purple, or lilac with darker lines, abaxial side of tube and base of abaxial lip sometimes yellow, 3–4 mm, lips equal.
