Pedicels (2–)5–10(–15) mm. 2n = 18.

Phenology: Flowering Jun–Aug.
Habitat: Moist alpine meadows, heathlands, and scree, bogs, fens, stream banks, pond and lake margins.
Elevation: 0–3500 m.

Distribution

Alta., B.C., N.W.T., Nunavut, Yukon, Alaska, Ariz., Calif., Colo., Idaho, Mont., Nev., N.Mex., Oreg., Utah, Wash., Wyo.

Discussion

Hybrids of subsp. nutans with Veronica stelleri show morphological intermediacy. Especially plants on the Alaskan coast may have serrate leaves as in V. stelleri and larger corollas as in V. wormskjoldii. The degree and direction of introgression are unknown.
