|discussion=<p><i>Equisetum</i> × <i>litorale</i> is a hybrid between <i>E. arvense</i> and <i>E. fluviatile</i>. It should be expected where the parents coexist. This hybrid has been mistaken for <i>Equisetum palustre</i>; the solid branches with long first internodes and channeled valleys distinguish it from that species.</p>
