|discussion=<p><i>Cleoserrata speciosa</i> is widespread horticulturally (with white-flowered plants not uncommon). It strongly resembles <i>Tarenaya hassleriana</i> (<i>Cleome</i> hassleriana) to the untrained eye (W. R. Ernst 1963b); considering its unique floral morphology and cytology, it remains difficult to place.</p>
