Other coryphanthas in its range have thicker spines, except for <i>C. chaffeyi</i> and <i>C. dasyacantha</i>. <i>Coryphantha duncanii</i> resembles a stunted, crevice-limited growth form of <i>C. dasyacantha</i> but has caducous floral remnant. It is closely related to C. zilziana Boedeker of Mexico.</p>
