|discussion=<p><i>Brachypodium pinnatum</i> is native to Eurasia. It is reportedly established in Sonoma County, California, and in Massachusetts. In its native range it prefers open woodlands, forest edges, and grassland habitats, and is fairly tolerant of hot, dry conditions.</p>
