|discussion=<p><i>Mentzelia oreophila</i> is found in Inyo, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties, California, and Clark, Esmeralda, Lincoln, and Nye counties, <i>Nevada</i>. The California populations have a smaller stature than those in <i>Nevada</i>, and phylogenetic analysis indicated that the species is potentially polyphyletic.</p>
