|discussion=<p><i>Flaveria chlorifolia</i> is widely distributed in the northern region of the Chihuahuan Desert and extends up the Pecos River drainage into central New Mexico and the Rio Grande River drainage to north of Las Cruces. The perfoliate leaves, succulent habit, relatively large, flat-topped clusters of discoid heads, and usually 2–4 pappus scales distinguish it. It may be considered primitive on the basis of habit, leaves, and pappus scales. It is not thought to be closely related to any other species of <i>Flaveria</i>.</p>
