Shrubs, to 2 m. Stems strigose. Leaves persistent; petiole 2.5–3 mm; blade 10–40 mm, abaxial surface villous across blade. Pedicels 4–9 mm, strigose. Flowers: sepals strigose; ovary densely strigose.
Phenology: Flowering Apr–May.
Habitat: Calcareous glades
Elevation: 0-20 m
Discussion
Subspecies austrofloridense is known only from extreme southern Florida.
