Plants 4–8 cm. Leaves mostly alternate; petioles 3–7 mm; blades ovate, margins with 2–3 serrations or lobes, faces glabrous or minutely hairy; pappi of 2–3(–5) bristles (1–3 reduced). 2n = 34.


Phenology: Flowering spring–fall.
Habitat: Caprock bluffs
Elevation: 1200 m

Discussion

Of conservation concern.

Variety appressa is restricted to caprock bluffs in southeastern Brewster County and adjacent Mexico.
