Discussion

Variety laetus occurs from the southern Cascade Range of northern California through the Sierra Nevada to the Western Transverse Ranges of southwestern California. As discussed by D. D. Keck (1932), corolla lengths and leaf sizes usually are larger among plants in the southern part of the range as compared to plants in the north.
