Herbs to 5 dm; with ovoid or globose tuber. Stems appressed-pubescent. Leaves unifoliolate; stipules long-triangular or linear, 3–8 mm; petiole 1–35 mm; leaflet blades elliptic to narrowly lanceolate, 20–90 × 3–12 mm, surfaces glandular-punctate, sparsely pubescent. Peduncles 2–13 cm. Inflorescences ovoid to long-ellipsoid, 1–4 cm. Flowers 5–7 mm; calyx 3–5 mm, glandular, appressed-pubescent; corolla purple, banner obtrullate. Legumes 4 × 4 mm, glandular, rugose. Seeds obovate, 2 mm.


Phenology: Flowering May–Jun.
Habitat: Along swamps and roadways in flat pine-barrens.
Elevation: 0–50 m.
