Flowers: corolla lobes multicolored adaxially, generally dark maroon to brownish near base and green to yellowish near tips at anthesis (or uniformly yellowish green to neon green in rare mutants), pubescent or glabrous; dorsal anther appendages dark purple or maroon tinted.
Phenology: Flowering Apr–Sep; fruiting Jul–Nov.
Habitat: Moist woods in bottomlands, along streams, around lakes.
Elevation: 30–300 m.
