Leaves: petioles 2–20 mm; blades 5–20 × 5–15 mm overall, lobes 1–1.5 mm wide. Peduncles 0.5–5+ mm. Involucres 2–5+ mm high. Phyllaries: outer 3 ± scabrellous, inner scarious to membranous. Paleae 1.5–2 mm. Pistillate florets: corollas 0.5–1+ mm, ± strigillose. Functionally staminate florets: corollas 1.5–2 mm. Cypselae 1.5–2 mm.
Phenology: Flowering May–Oct.
Habitat: Sandy or gravelly flats, washes, usually alkaline soils
Elevation: 1000–2200 m
