Stems to 30 cm or almost absent, hairy, hairs gray. Leaf blades ± triangular, mostly 40 × 40 mm, base lobed, lobes ± abruptly spreading, hastate, 1–3-pointed, margins not un­dulate, apex ± acute. Bracts broadly ovate to lanceolate, 8–16 × 4–10 mm. Flowers: sepals, at least outers, hairy, hairs appressed; corolla (25–)30–44 mm.


Phenology: Flowering Apr–Jun.
Habitat: Chaparral, mesic sites, wood­lands.
Elevation: 300–2000 m.
