Herbs perennial, clump-forming, acaulescent or subacaulescent; caudex deeply subterranean, with horizontal rhizomes. Hairs basifixed. Stems single or few. Stipules distinct. Leaves odd-pinnate, petiolate; leaflets (11 or)13–21(or 23). Racemes loosely flowered, flowers initially ascending, later horizontal or slightly declined. Calyx tubes deeply or broadly campanulate. Corollas whitish, lavender- or purple-tipped, banner recurved through 50°, keel apex obtuse. Legumes deciduous, sessile, usually ascending or incurved-ascending, rarely declined, obliquely linear-ellipsoid, usually straight, sometimes crescent-incurved, 3-sided compressed, ± bilocular. Seeds 26–36.
