Herbs perennial, low, shortly caulescent; caudex subterranean. Hairs malpighian. Stems few or several. Stipules distinct, at least on aerial stems. Leaves odd-pinnate, petiolate; leaflets (5 or)7–11(or 13). Racemes short, loosely few-flowered, flowers spreading. Calyx tubes cylindric. Corollas white tinged pinkish, banner recurved through 20–30°, keel apex blunt, rounded. Legumes deciduous, sessile, spreading, ovoid or ovoid-ellipsoid, bladdery-inflated (turgid), cartilaginous, bilocular except at short beak. Seeds ca. 26.
