Herbs perennial, caulescent; caudex deeply subterranean, with horizontally creeping rhizomes. Hairs basifixed. Stems single or few. Stipules distinct. Leaves odd-pinnate, petiolate; leaflets (9–)13–21. Racemes loosely flowered, flowers ascending-spreading. Calyx tubes campanulate. Corollas bright pink-purple, banner recurved through ca. 45°, keel apex blunt. Legumes eventually deciduous, stipitate, spreading to ascending, oblong, coiled into a ring, strongly laterally flattened, unilocular. Seeds 20 or 21.
