Stems procumbent to ascending. Inflorescences 1–3(–5)-flowered. Flowers 6–8 mm; calyx 2–3 mm, lobes shorter than calyx tube, triangular; petal claws well exserted.


Phenology: Flowering spring.
Habitat: Chaparral, creosote bush scrub, desert slopes, sandy flats and slopes, roadsides.
Elevation: 30–2300 m.

Discussion

Variety procumbens is known from the Sacramento Valley, the Peninsular and Transverse ranges, and the Mojave Desert.
