Stems 15–40 cm. Flowers: calyx lobes lanceolate, margins erose; corolla bluish purple to pinkish blue, 7–12 mm; pollen sacs 0.6–0.8(–0.9) mm, dehiscing completely, connective splitting, sutures smooth, sometimes ± papillate.
Phenology: Flowering Jun–Aug.
Habitat: Marshes, stream banks, moist to wet meadows.
Elevation: 400–2400 m.
Discussion
Variety palustris is known from the Blue Mountains of northeastern Oregon and southeastern Washington.
