|discussion=<p>This endemic species may resemble <i>Buxbaumia aphylla</i>. The sporangium however, is never glossy chestnut when mature, but is dull and greenish brown; the exostome is in 2–3 rows rather than one row as in <i>B. aphylla</i>.</p>
