|discussion=<p><i>Bartramia pomiformis</i> can be distinguished from the similar <i>B. halleriana</i> by the combination in the former of narrowly lanceolate to linear-lanceolate leaves, often crisped or flexuose when dry, together with the elongate seta that usually lofts the capsule above the foliage.</p>
