Plants annual or short-lived perennial, erect or procumbent. Leaves with Kranz-type anatomy. Pistillate flowers lacking perianth, enclosed by a pair of bracteoles. Bracteoles ovoid-globular to broadly turbinate or hemispheric, united almost to summit, erect. Seeds erect, or basal and horizontal; radicle usually lateral.

Distribution

Introduced; Australia.
