Stems less than 1.2 mm wide, margins denticulate. Spathes: keels denticulate; outer less than 2 times inner, basally connate 5–6 mm. Outer tepals 10–17 mm; filaments pale blue to deep violet or purple. 2n = 64.


Phenology: Flowering late spring–early summer.
Habitat: Moist to dry, gravelly prairies, open, grassy areas
Elevation: 0–800 m
