Basal leaves linear-oblanceolate to narrowly spatulate, (5–)8–16(–22) × 2–5 mm. Involucres 6–7.5 mm. Florets 4–5 mm. 2n = 18.


Phenology: Flowering Oct–May.
Habitat: Sandy soil, wet prairies, pinelands, "shell rock and muck"
Elevation: 10–25 m

Discussion

Variety australis and var. nudata are contiguous to slightly overlapping in geographic range; intermediates have been noted (L. C. Anderson 1970) where they co-occur in northeastern Florida.
