Racemes compact; axis 4–6(–15) cm in fruit. Pedicels attached to calyx on one side, spreading to descending. Calyces basally asymmetric.


Phenology: Flowering May–Jul.
Habitat: Sage­brush, rabbitbrush, and juniper communities, various substrates.
Elevation: 600–1900 m.

Discussion

Plants recognized as Astragalus malheurensis or A. eremiticus var. malheurensis, which occur in Owyhee County, Idaho, and adjacent Malheur County, Oregon, have purple petals or at least suffused distally with purple. They may be sufficiently distinct to warrant taxonomic recognition.
